The Oyster Festival is held in March each year and is a culmination of a series of community events which include a Scavenger Hunt and a pageant. The Oyster Festival features well-known entertainment, the world-famous Chili Cook-off, as well as carnival rides and local cuisine. |

The Tangipahoa Fair is held in October each year and features carnival rides, food, arts and crafts and loads of family fun. The Tangipahoa Fair is scheduled for October 1- 4, 2008. |

The Florida Parishes Skeet and Gun Association has long been a supporter of America's hunting tradition while promoting both sportsmanship and conservation. The local club was designed to educate all people, both young and old, in the art of handling a gun, in the art of wing shooting, and in the art of safety. Whether a beginner or advanced wing shooter, we invite you to visit our facility to improve your shooting skills.
The Skeet Club dates back to 1952 when a group of local skeet shooting enthusiasts organized a one-range field in Amite that consisted of lean-to trap houses set up in a local cow pastures. By the spring of 1954, local support had grown to such a level that the club was incorporated. Later that year, a knotted cypress clubhouse was constructed on the banks of the Tangipahoa River and today is one of the most beautiful and picturesque clubs in the country.
The club immediately became affiliated with the National Skeet Shooting Association and began hosting registered competitive shoots. In 2005, the Skeet club affiliated itself with Cowboy Action Shooting by entering an agreement with the Bayou Bounty Hunters, a local Cowboy Action Shooting Club.
